This year the enduro format returned to the Wilds and was a great success, thanks to many AOA volunteers, riders from all around Ohio, and generous sponsors.
The event brought 80 racers, including many new to the trails. Returning riders agreed that the trails were the best they've ever been. That couldn't be possible without the ongoing trail maintenance by locals, plus the big push by several volunteers lead by HWB over the summer.
We couldn't have asked for better weather- perfect for camping and playing around on bikes all weekend. While FUN was the main goal, the competition was legit! Cam Reagan took the overall, while AOA swept many other categories- HWB crushing the Masters, Rae taking women's open, Nick Bowman leading men's sport, and Trey Crowley rounding it out with the men's novice win.
Awesome volunteers marshalled the course and provided a water stop, making the day even more enjoyable. They helped tend to one serious crash of the day and fortunately that rider was on his feet before long.
We teamed up with COMBO for the first time in years and it was a pleasure! COMBO is running the FUNduro race series and has the timing dialed. Check out the last two races in the series here! AOA profited about $2400 from the race and that will be put to good use back on AOA trails. It takes a lot to fuel the equipment, purchase lumbar and fund repairs!
We thank local sponsors including HWB Cycling, Ray's MTB, Advanced Heating and Cooling, iTrack, Linear Active Trail Design, Weasel Boy Brewing, the Wilds, 740Cryo, Schmidty's, Christi Gormley Garden Design, Jeff Hooper, Webb Financial and English Masonry, plus those who hit the DONATE button! Thanks COMBO and series sponsors TREK and Nocterra. Sorry if I missed anyone!!!
We look forward to a possible series opener next year!
Go enjoy the Wilds while the trails are in stellar shape!
Thank you for your support,
